4 easy ways to look pulled together + comfortable in this busy season

12.13.18Fall Outfits, Style How To's1

Heyy there! Soo I’ve been thinking – Isn’t it the lifelong goal of us all when it comes to fashion to be optimally comfortable but still look and feel amazing?

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to my style, being comfortable is always one of the things that ends up at the top of my list, even so, I find myself feeling a little sloppy (or not myself) when I wear things just for comfort sake when I’m out and about.

Sooo… since I know its a busy time of year and so easy to feel like there’s not enough time for self-care. I say all the more reason to take a few more minutes for yourself to start your day feeling put together!

And that’s why I’ve come up with a couple ways I’ve found make me feel a little more put together but still comfortable when I’m out doing my thing.

Herrre we go!!!

  1. Swap your yoga pants for comfy denim… I know it sounds simple, but through the year’s I’ve really found this to make a huge difference in how I feel throughout the day. In the past yoga pants were an excuse for me to not fix my hair or not get ready for the day, and yes they are comfortable, and yes if you opt for them you can get your day started faster, but to me nothing makes up for clean fixed hair and a simple outfit that says “hey I showed up.”
  2. Elevate a basic with a new fabric or silhouette… As an example, the shirt I’m wearing in these pictures would be very simple if it was just a cotton long sleeve tee shirt, but because it’s a corduroy mock-neck, it makes my whole outfit look nicer. Meanwhile, I’m chilling all cool like just as comfortable as if I was wearing a tee. And as a bonus, it’s easier to wash than a sweater (but still just as stylish). Three cheers for that!
  3. Layer with a third piece… This one’s a fun one for me because I’ve always felt like there is a special magic that comes from throwing on just the right coat. It’s one of the easiest things you can do to make jeans and a teeshirt look fantastic and has a unique ability to create a whole vibe without much effort. It’s probably one of my fav things to do, and also one reason why I love cold weather soo much!
  4. Throw on some layered necklaces… If all else fails, throw some of your favorite everyday necklaces on a tee and call it a day! I’ve been doing this a lot lately – just layering my favorite coin necklaces over a tee and adding a jacket to finish a look (this always makes me feel good)!

Style Notes || For this outfit I did a couple extra things to make it feel special in addition to the 4 ideas above. I front tucked my shirt which always makes my outfits feel more put together, I draped my jean jacket on my shoulders instead of wearing it all day, and I downsized my bag (which always adds sophistication to an outfit).

These things are all small by themselves, but I’ve found that even just picking one per outfit has up’d my style game and made me feel like I’m taking time to care for myself!

And there you have it! 4 easy ways to look put together and comfortable (plus a couple bonus styling tips)!

So tell me… what are your go to’s to look put together but also comfortable in a crunch? Is comfort as important to you? Or does style trump comfort for you?

So much love,

Mary Beth

  • Challenge Accepted.✨To my fellow woman, you are beautiful because of... The abuse you endured that you do not let define you. The disease or condition you developed that you do not let control you. The scars you have from childbirth that you choose to see as a souvenir. The times you chose a kind word over a tearing down comment. The times you looked at her with admiration and did not question your own worth. The times you gave your body the care it needed instead of pouring from an empty cup. For the all times you loved when it
