Oooo man I have to say I love loveee this outfit. Outfit 2 of the Spring Outfit formula’s is really hitting the spot for me.
If you missed the original post you can get caught up here. Let’s dive into outfit 2, shall we?!
Outfit Formula 2:
Blazer + Vintage Denim
Ironically the blazer in this outfit is vintage and the jeans are Madewell though they are part of the “perfect vintage jean” collection. But the concept of vintage + current still remains!
In fact, I highly recommend looking for a vintage blazer or jean for this formula because it adds an element of old to the new which is a fun contrast. I will link one for the immediate buy if you’re not feeling the hunt too though… I got you!

Styling Notes | I decided to go with a white baby doll tee with this and tie in the white with some bold kitten heeled boots. I also added a beautiful o-handled bag, some sunnies, and took more of a maximalist approach to jewelry (which I’ve been loving lately).
In the past, I would have picked a ring and maybe an earring, or one necklace. But these days I’m more inspired by wearing it all. And you know what? I’m rollin’ with it.
Here’s to rolling with things and letting yourself change, am I right?!
Touching again on the idea I talked about in the last post of pairing contrasting pieces with each other and simplifying the formula with this outfit. The contrasting ideas this time are an old/vintage item with a new item, (the blazer and the boots).
Vintage item + Modern item
A little note on the blazer, I found it at a local shop called Flea Style where they hand curate vintage pieces and home items for the foraging. I wanted to take a minute just to say if you’re like me (new to vintage and thrift shopping) but super interested in it, shopping in curated shops can be a nice way to ease into it if going straight to a thrift shop seems overwhelming to you at first.
No matter where you are it takes a vision and open heart and mind to search for someones once treasure to make them new again.
The jeans are a new release from Madewell and one of my favorite to wear these days because of the look and the comfort stretch in them. Usually, I do not cuff them, but I liked how they looked with these boots.
The items I recommend pairing with this look are:
Bootie + Simple tee + Sunnies + Layered necklaces
And if you are feeling extra (like I was) add some hoops and a statement ring as well.
Outfit Details:
Blazer (vintage) / Blazer warm tone / Blazer cool tone
Denim / Denim (not distressed)
White booties (old)/ White booties (similar) / White Booties (budget friendly)
Choker necklace / Coin necklace / Hoop earrings
Bag (old) / Similar here
Sunnies (old) / Similar here
And that’s it for now!
Tell me though, how do you feel about shopping thrift or vintage items? Do you think it’s a learned skill? And how would you style a vintage blazer like this? Or some killer vintage denim?
Stay tuned for Outfit 3 of 5
So much love,
Mary Beth

I love a bunch of things about this ensemble! This was a good reminder about quick transitions from my daily work wear which for me is “athlesurish” to something “more” for after hours!
Thanks so much, I think it can definitely be done with athleisure pieces as well! But it is always a trick to find the right layering pieces. Thankfully I’ve found it’s hard to go wrong with a good blazer!
