These past few days have been so beautiful weather-wise even with the bits of rain, so it’s been the perfect time to wear my favorite coveralls and slides combo that I’ve been into lately.
I’ve had to string out the Spring Outfit Formula’s a little longer than I hoped because of life circumstances but sometimes that happens right? So here we are with outfit formula 4 of 5!
Refresh on the original post here if you missed it.
Outfit Formula 4:
Coveralls + Strappy Sandals
First of all, let’s talk about coveralls. Some people feel a little intimidated to wear them, but let me tell you, having a jumpsuit like this really comes in handy because it is extremely fashionable while also being comfortable and utilitarian.
The trick in becoming comfortable in a coverall is finding first the right color and second the right fabric. When you look for a coverall do these two things
- Look for one with a high cotton content that feels more structured because it will be a little less form fitting which I think is nice in terms of function. And…
- Make sure it’s a color you feel confident in since it is going to cover your entire body. For example, my two coveralls are black and a neutral green, both colors I enjoy wearing and feel a little more safe to me considering that I am wearing a bolder piece!
Styling Notes | I decided to go with a more feminine strappy sandal to offset the masculine utilitarian vibe of this jumpsuit as a fun contrast! Finished off the look with what is right now my absolute favorite bag, some modern sunnies to give it an edge, and a layered necklace situation.
A note on this bag, it is an ode to the 90’s sling bag, and is such a fun easygoing bag to wear with things because you can wear it across your back, across your front, or just slung on your shoulder! Sooo many options with this honey that I’m loving.
If you missed the last couple of Outfit Formula posts I’ve been touching on wearing outfits with contrasting elements. For example, if you are wearing something flowy then wear something structured, or if you are wearing something feminine add a pop of masculine, or if you are wearing something modern, try something vintage with it. Ya with me?
In this case, I am wearing something more masculine or utilitarian and I wanted to pair something more delicate or feminine with it. Breaking down the formula of Coveralls + Strappy Sandals even further:
Utilitarian (masculine) item + Delicate (feminine) item
This is a look I could repeat over and over again, and you best believe I will!
Just a note, throwing on sneakers with this look is a great way to make it even more comfortable but still pulled together on days when your priority is getting a lot of stuff done quickly (errands, dog park, kids from to and from school, side hustle, etc).
Here is an alternate sneaker and bag duo that would look good with this coverall:
Outfit Details:
Coverall / Coverall (similar thinner cotton fabric)
Strappy Sandal (old) / Similar here
Necklace set / Old English pendant
And that’s all I’ve got for today – stay tuned for the last look of the Spring Outfits coming to you in a few days!
Tell me though, how do you feel about coveralls? Have you been able to feel comfortable in them? And what would be your ultimate fashionable yet highly functional outfit?
So much love,
Mary Beth
