Hello, and happy New Year! We’re a couple of weeks in already but who’s counting right?
I’ve had a quiet reflective winter season that’s given me the clarity I’ve needed for some important areas in my life including where I want to take this blog/my styling business. I’ll be sharing very soon, but for now, I am excited to start sharing everyday outfits once again along with all of the styling thoughts (you know me).
Today I am wearing somewhat of a winning outfit for me personally because it marries my love for sporty style with my love for lux elevated pieces.
One of the best ways to contrast different ideas into one outfit is to do it in pairs. In this outfit, the lux elevated items are the jewelry and sweater, and the sporty pieces are the sneakers, leggings, bag, and t-shirt. Everyone has a pair and because of that, we have a happy balanced outfit.
Let’s talk about a few of the items in this outfit more specifically.
First the leggings – I used to not embrace leggings as part of an “elevated everyday look” but in my real life I find that leggings are needed in many instances and sometimes just nice to have as an alternative to denim. So rather than fight it, I now embrace them, and from that place, I can create and share outfits that feel special to me, no matter how dressed up or dressed down they are.
Moving on to the sweater, the layered look with this sweater is key for me. The long-sleeved tee not only adds a nice dimension to this outfit, but it also provides one key function – keeping the sweater off of my skin directly. A win-win for practicality and style.
Now for sneaker talk. I love my sneakers, and if you don’t know this about me, you will soon because I wear them with what feels like every other outfit. These 550’s were a recent addition to my wardrobe that I have wanted since 2020 (just a side note, if you have wanted an item for 3 years, it’s a good indication that you will love and wear it for years to come). So go ahead and let yourself buy the item (if budget allows of course)… it’s time. These shoes are a bit on the heavy side but I do feel they run true to size, I took a 7.5 in them and am happy with them so far.
Last little styling note – lately I have been loving incorporating some silver jewelry into my rotation. I’ve been a gold lover for as long as I can remember, but it has been refreshing to add a few silver pieces to the mix of things. For this particular outfit, I think the silver tones provide an important contrast to the warmer tones of the sweater, the crossbody bag, and my hair. I’ll link my three favorite pieces right now that I wear at least every other day! It’s a bonus that the earrings don’t bother my sensitive ears either!
