If you caught my recent post then you know that this blazer dress can be styled like a blazer, a vest, or a dress. It’s a 3-in-1 kind of situation that I am all about. And for this look, I decided to try out the piece as a dress.
It’s funny because I didn’t use to be the kind of gal that valued versatility with items in my wardrobe. In fact, I was a more is more kind of person, but I constantly found frustration in my wardrobe because I would buy things just because they were cute with no plan on how to wear them.
Do you relate to this?
I went from that extreme to another with a capsule wardrobe were I clung tightly to versatile “wear with everything pieces” but nothing statement or what I would call exciting, and now I can honestly say I’ve made a home right in the middle of the two.
Now I have many items that are versatile like this blazer, but also allow the fun and experimental things into my life just with better direction than before.
It’s an amazing place to be in and I’m so excited to explore it more, but for now, lets getting back to this dress shall we?

First off I love that even in it’s “stapleness,” it’s also a lot of fun to style because of how it transforms! It’s a win-win-win in my book.
For this specific look, I went for more of a boss babe type of feel and enjoyed experimenting with it but if I’m being completely honest with myself, it doesn’t really feel like me.
I feel so refreshed saying that because all of us, even the ones that “have it all together” sometimes put outfits together that end up not being what they were going for, or loving. Especially when your style is changing (and it’s ever-evolving), can I get an amen?
But it is a process both in successful outfits and not so successful outfits that we continue to grow in learning what we love, and I want to include you all in my behind the scenes as well.
So for this look, I’m taking a moment to think about how I could style this differently to make it feel more like me. Maybe with a belt and hat, and some shoes that are a little less serious. Stay tuned on a retake of this outfit, but for now, if boss babe is you’re thing, here is the outfit formula.
Outfit Formula:
Oversized hoop + Blazer Dress + Boots + Crossbody

The positive things I can take away from wearing this piece as a dress is the contrast of serious and play that making a blazer into a dress does. I appreciate the nerve that comes into play with this jacket on every level, and I’m ready to push myself to style it more like me in the future!
Outfit Details:
Blazer dress
Oversized hoop earrings
Dress boots
Crossbody bag old / Similar here

So now I leave it to you my friends, do you value versatile items more than statement ones or vice versa? And what do you do when you’ve styled an item and it really doesn’t feel like you?
I’m going to be talking a lot more about the second question coming up in the future, but for now, I hope you stay tuned for the vest look dropping your way next week, and that you share all your thoughts with me!
so much love,
Mary Beth

Having one of these “boss babe” outfits ready in the closet is essential for me. There are days confidence is low and emotions are high which spells for me insecurity. When I don the outfit it helps bring me back to center with these emotions. Frankly, I’m not sure why it works. I just know it does.
I love that, and totally agree! Some days you need the boost in confidence and on those days pulling out an outfit that makes you feel strong and beautiful can make all the difference. I am a firm believer that the external informs the internal sometimes just as much as the other way around. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
