Hey hey there! Sooo today I’m talking about one of two looks I’ve created around a new pair of statement boots that have quickly become one of the most beloved items in my wardrobe!
Buttt… before we get started on all the outfit details I want to talk just a bit about the spectrum I’ve experienced of having a lot to having very little when it comes to my closet.
(Hint: it’s a big reason I tend to repeat items on the regular!)
In my last post, I talked about how I went from having a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear to experimenting with minimalism and a capsule wardrobe for some time.
And I’ve got to say, I’m really glad that I experienced both sides.
Here’s why:
Having a lot of things showed me that you don’t always find creativity in having more, especially when you don’t even know everything you have. Or when you don’t know how to style the one-off items in your wardrobe, so they just sit there.
And then on the flip side when you have less, in order to create diversity in your outfits, you have to wear your statement items with a lot of other pieces.

I no longer keep a capsule, and I wouldn’t say I’m a minimalist by any stretch, but something that I learned from my experience with both was to repeat statement (or experimental) items often with a lot of other things in my wardrobe so that I learn to style it well and then naturally wear it more.
I have definitely done that with these boots (not to mention the fact that they were love at first sight!) And because of that, I have worn them so many times with many different outfits.
For this first outfit, I kept it simple with a black jean and cream sweater combo. But I added interest by wearing a flared pant instead of a classic skinny jean.
When in doubt try a new pant out… rhyming like a champ right now;).

Outfit Formula:
Black kick-flare + Oversized sweater + Statement boot
Add a simple crossbody or tote and you’re good to go!
Style Notes || I styled the sweater with a front tuck and tucked in a t-shirt underneath to be able to go longer in between washes. And for the jeans, I did a kick flare that came over my boots.
**When deciding the length of the jeans, I always say they either need to come down over the boots by an inch or so (if it’s a tall boot), or clear the top of my boot by just a touch, but for this look I chose the first option.

Outfit Details:
Ribbed cream sweater / Similar here
Black kick-flare denim / Similar (straight leg)
Snakeskin booties (made responsibly) / Similar here (made responsibly)
Crossbody / Similar (made responsibly)
That’s it for now!
But tell me, have you experimented with minimalism and capsule wardrobes? If so, do you feel like it increased your creativity when it comes to styling your outfits?
Stay tuned for outfit #2 later in the week, but for now, I hope you enjoy a little experiment we are up to on The Threads We Wear below. Fashion Videos!!!!
So much love,
Mary Beth
